Description: The Fast Track Set-up Seminar is an intensive version of our standard Setup & Maintenance Course and is for those who wish to a gain a quick yet thorough overview of how to properly set-up and adjust any stringed instrument for optimum tone and playability. This One Day Seminar an indispensable course, offering lectures, demonstrations and Q&A. Students will receive their own Guitar and Bass Set-up handbook with course and reference materials and a wealth of information.  Registrations are limited. Questions? The course covers all the basics of guitar setup and explains the fundamental mechanical operation of all stringed instruments, including all types of guitars and bass guitars (acoustic and electric) and will address different playing styles and the pros and cons of various products and hardware.  Topics include string height, intonation/saddle compensation, neck relief, neck pitch, truss rod adjustment, string break angles, selecting string gauges and types, height of strings at nut, fret wire, bridges and more. Students who complete this seminar may wish to schedule additional hands-on workshop time in our OPEN WORKSHOPS.
Setup & Electronics with Ian Schneller Schedule One weekend day.  Saturday,  10am - 5pm.  Lunch and refreshments will be served. Fee $385.  Tuition includes lectures and demonstrations with Q & A. Hands-on workshop, with use of an individual guitar workbench, specialized tools and the necessary shop supplies for this course. Student receive their own Set-up handbook with course and reference materials.  Students are encouraged to bring their own instrument. A catered lunch and beverages will be served and are included. 7  hours instruction. Instructor Ian Schneller is the founder and chief instructor of the Chicago School of Guitar Making. With over 800 handmade instruments bearing his Specimen name, he brings a wellspring of knowledge to the classroom with the mission of perpetuating the tradition of handcraft and design innovation. He has shown his work in a variety of museums around the country and is a faculty member of the Sculpture Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Student testimonials
